Pleased by the penance of Upamanyu, Lord Shiva manifested himself in the guise of Indra to test Upamanyus obedience.

Lord Shiva Appears in the Guise of Indra (Sureshwar)

Upamanyu, the son of sage Vyaghrapad, was brought happening in his maternal uncle’s quarters past his childhood. One day Upanyu was enormously hungry. His mother gave him milk to the beverage which was not satisfactory to satisfy his hunger. He demanded more and started crying. His mother mined some wheat flour in the water and gave him to the beverage as there was no milk left in the house. Upamanyu finding the taste every second told his mother that it was not milk but something else. He knew started crying.

His mother told him that if he wanted milk subsequently he should praise lord Shiva as he abandoned was talented of making the milk easy to use. Upamanyu proceeded towards the Himalaya and started to do its stuff penance to engross lord Shiva- forever chanting the mantra Om Namah Shivay. His penance generated hence much of heat that all the three worlds started going apropos for fire.

To test his obedience, Lord Shiva and goddess Parvati appeared back him disguised as Indra and Indrani respectively. Both of them told Upamanyu to halt engagement penance. They said-

“We Indra and Indrani are certainly deferential by your observance. Stop worshipping Shiva. We will fulfill every single one your desires.”

Lord Shiva and goddess Parvati did not fade away at this. They even cursed Shiva. Upamanyu became intensely lived and got going on to drive you mad the abuser Indra.

Shiva and Parvati were satisfied by his quantity dedication and adherence. They revealed their true identity and blessed him. Shiva promised Upamanyu that he would be completion in the vicinity of his hermitage along forward Parvati continually.

Upamanyu returned assert to his ablaze and narrated the cumulative excuse to his mother who was totally complimentary. Lord Shiva got the reveal ‘Sureshwar’ because he appeared in the guise of Indra.
